I remember finding this really dope underground bmx website called Da Groove back in '99 as a college freshman. It was really cool and heavy on street riding at a time when ramps and contests still dominated magazines, and internet content was still really weird and not that good. Justin Holt did Da Groove, and the website was apparently the online version of his print zine. I tried to order a copy but he was out of stock. It had already been a year, and he was onto another project, a full-color magazine called Spoke, although current internet research says it was called Sent. Leigh Ramsdell was on the cover? He did one or two issues, I never received one, but I was a fan of Justin. Then he started Habitat, which was gonna be some huge parts brand, except he didn't realize Habitat was already the name of a massive skateboard company. I remember him posting somewhere about how much work he had poured into the Habitat brand, only to have it evaporate in front of him. Habitat became Rotation, which put out a video called Dirty South in 2001. That's the last I heard of Justin until I just googled him and found an old post on the FBM blog from 2009 referencing "Justin Holt of Saggin Clothing/ Carolina BMX fame." 23mag does acknowledge the existence of Sent Zine with a broken link to carolinabmx.com.

Anyway, I needed to get that out.
